Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 3, 2026
This policy explains what Social Karaoke ("we", "us") collects, why, and what you can do about it. In short: we collect what we need to run karaoke rooms and your account, we do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Information we collect
- Account details - your email address, a securely hashed password, and your display name. If you sign in with Google or Discord, we receive your basic profile (name, email, and avatar) from that provider.
- Profile content - anything you add, such as a bio, favorite genre, and avatar or banner images you upload.
- Activity you create - rooms you host, songs added to queues, playlists, favorites, chat messages, and social connections (follows).
- Guest participation - if you join a room as a guest, we store the nickname you choose and a random session identifier for that room. Guests do not need an account.
- Technical data - your IP address (used to derive an approximate region for song availability and to limit abuse), plus basic request logs.
How we use it
- To run rooms, queues, playback, and your account.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse (for example, rate limiting).
- To apply region-based availability rules for videos.
- To send account emails you request, such as verification and password resets.
Cookies and analytics
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our visitor analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) are cookieless and do not identify you - which is why this site does not need a cookie-consent banner.
Third-party services
We rely on a few providers to run the service:
- Google and Discord - optional sign-in.
- YouTube / Google - song search and video playback. Your use of these features is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Email delivery - a transactional email provider sends account emails on our behalf.
- Cloudflare - cookieless analytics and network services.
- Hosting - our hosting provider stores the data described above on our behalf.
How long we keep data
- Rooms stay active for up to 24 hours, then archive into a read-only history.
- Room chat is visible only inside the live room and is never carried into the archived history. Chat and activity records are kept in the database for about six months for operational purposes, then removed.
- Account data is kept until you delete your account.
Your choices and rights
You can edit or remove your profile information at any time, and you can delete your account from your account settings, which removes your personal data associated with it. To make a privacy request or ask a question, email support@socialkaraoke.com.
Children
Social Karaoke is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above.
