Karaoke for a house party
Social Karaoke turns any screen in your house into a karaoke stage, with everyone queueing songs from their own phone. It is free, runs in a browser, and your guests do not need to install or sign up for anything.
Everybody gets a turn
There is one queue and everyone in the room can add to it. Each song shows who added it, so turn-taking sorts itself out without anyone having to keep a list or play referee.
This is the part that fixes most house-party karaoke. The usual failure is one person on the laptop taking requests, which quietly makes them the DJ for the night and makes everyone else ask permission to sing. Here, people add their own songs and can upvote someone else's to bump it up the queue.
Skipping is a vote too. If a song is dying, more than half the room can vote to move on - two votes in a three-person room. Nobody gets cut off mid-verse because one person got bored.
Up and singing in under a minute
Setup is opening a web page. Host the room on your TV or laptop, and it shows a 4-letter code and a QR code for everyone else.
Guests scan or type the code, pick a nickname, and they are in. No app to install, no account, no email, nothing to remember from last time. That matters more than it sounds: the gap between "let's do karaoke" and the first song is where the mood usually dies, and a five-minute setup involving app store downloads for eight people will kill it every time.
The party runs itself
Songs play one after another automatically. When one ends the next starts immediately, or after a countdown of up to 60 seconds if you want a breather between numbers.
That means nobody has to stand by the laptop. The host can be up singing, on the sofa, or in the kitchen getting more drinks, and the night keeps its rhythm. If you want backup, promote a trusted guest to co-host and they can reorder the queue, remove songs, or skip while you are busy.
Bring whatever you want to sing
Any song on YouTube can go in the queue. Search from inside the app for a karaoke, instrumental, or lyric version and add it.
If you want to get ahead of the night, paste up to 25 links at once, or import a YouTube playlist of up to 100 songs you put together earlier. A room holds up to 200 unplayed songs, which is comfortably more than any party gets through.
One honest note: Social Karaoke is not a licensed karaoke catalogue like KaraFun or Smule. It plays the karaoke versions that already exist on YouTube, which is a far bigger pool but a more variable one. Is it free?
Social Karaoke is completely free for a house party. There is no paid tier, no trial, no limit on songs or rooms, and no ads.
Do my guests need to download an app or make an account?
No. Guests join in their phone browser with the 4-letter room code or a QR scan and a nickname. Only the person hosting needs an account, and that is free too.
How many people can join?
There is no fixed limit on how many people can be in a room, so a house party of any size works. The only hard cap is the queue itself, which holds 200 unplayed songs at once.
Does it work on my TV?
Yes. Host the room in your smart TV's browser, or open it on a laptop and plug into the TV with HDMI or cast to it. Whatever screen you host on is the one everyone watches and sings to.
What if the person hosting wants to sing?
Promote someone else to co-host before you get up. They can manage the queue and skip songs while you have the mic, and it also means the room survives if your laptop battery dies.
